Description

A qualitative data-collection and analysis toolkit: 12 semi-structured interviews (average 32 minutes, ranging 23–42) covering Black girlhood meaning-making, school and STEM attitudes, and parental messaging, coded in Dedoose with a codebook of "seven overarching codes across identity and socialization." Intercoder percent agreement was 74.48%, slightly below the commonly recommended 80%, which the authors attribute to complex subcodes and simultaneous coding. Figures 1 and 2 depict the socialization and identity codes and subcodes.
