Description¶
The CCPS model (Chevalier et al., 2020, 2021) is a framework for structuring the development of computational thinking in educational settings, described by the article as "one of the most comprehensive and validated frameworks" in this area. It organizes learning through creative problem solving and integrates programming and educational robotics as central tools. It is structured around five interactive phases: Understanding, Idea Generation, Formalization, Implementation/Programming, and Evaluation, in which outcomes are analyzed, errors debugged, and processes improved iteratively. This study operationalized the five phases through a two-hour workshop with rotating stations and guided creative challenges.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Operational frameworks are needed to guide educational practice in specific contexts; the phases must be operationalized through concrete activities such as rotating stations and guided creative challenges
Constraints¶
- The article notes TPACK lacks a specific operational guide for structuring the teaching of CT or machine learning and needs complementing by more concrete, situated models; CCPS is applied here only as a two-hour initial-exposure microintervention, not sustained competency development
Target Learners¶
- pre-service Primary Education teachers
Learning Goals¶
- computational thinking
- creative problem solving
- programming and robotics familiarity
