Description¶
A clinical simulation activity for a 6-ECTS second-year Health Education course. "Four faculty members designed the activity collaboratively. They selected four topics, namely diabetes, hypertension, vaccination schedules and contraceptive counselling, and developed the corresponding scenarios for implementation in the university's high‐fidelity simulation laboratory and debriefing room." Each session lasted approximately 45 minutes and comprised prebriefing, scenario enactment and debriefing; one student per scenario acted as the primary care nurse while peers observed, with all students joining debriefing.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Faculty with active clinical practice to develop authentic and clinically relevant scenarios
Constraints¶
- Only one student participated directly in each scenario while the others observed, creating unequal opportunities for hands-on involvement
Target Learners¶
- Second-year undergraduate nursing students
Learning Goals¶
- Applying the nursing process and initiating health education tasks with primary health care patients
