Synthesised assessment indicators for electric circuit interpretation ability¶
Design · All designs
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
The article synthesises prior indicator sets (Chu & Rau 2010; Engelhardt & Beichner 2004) into three dimensions for assessing electric circuit interpretation ability: telling results by using a mathematical equation, interpretation of the answers to the electric circuits problems, and the best solution to the electric circuits problem. Each dimension carries indicators such as applying series and parallel resistor concepts, identifying a complete circuit, and applying potential difference rules across circuit types.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Assessment items must cover all three synthesised dimensions
Constraints¶
- Framed for direct current circuits at high school level
Target Learners¶
- high school physics students
