Description

Alder's clinical model places residents 4 days per week in selected school sites as coteachers with mentor teachers, using a coteaching and gradual release model. Residents teach at least one component of the school day from the first day of school, share all lesson plans with mentors before leading instruction, complete monthly "takeover days" in fall, and move to full takeover weeks in spring. Gradual release documents for each month suggest activities, responsibilities, and foci for residents, mentors, and clinical directors, and mentors and residents may customize the model.
