Description¶
The article describes the CPS process as a structured creativity-nurturing framework that 'mainly starts with divergent thinking and gradually end with convergent thinking.' The version adopted in this study, proposed by Treffinger, Isaksen and Dorval (1994), comprises three components — understanding the problem, generating ideas, and planning for action — and six stages: Objective-Finding, Data-Finding, Problem-Finding, Idea-Finding, Solution-Finding, and Acceptance-Finding. The author adopted this process to design the content and activities of the experimental teaching for EG1.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- A well-designed method for cultivating creativity, based on the belief that creativity can be nurtured
Constraints¶
- Students unfamiliar with the process may act with confusion; the author found a 50-minute introduction was not sufficient and participants may need more guidance and supervision throughout the process
Target Learners¶
- first-year university students in a hotel management program
Learning Goals¶
- problem-solving attitudes
- creative problem solving in accounting
