Description¶
Dual tailoring is the article's descriptive design label (explicitly "not a new theory") for an instructional configuration combining two individualization dimensions in one AI-mediated workflow. Interest tailoring adapts readings to professional context, sector, and role through examples and cases; comprehension-level tailoring adjusts "pacing, scaffolding, explanatory depth" via definitions, stepwise structures, and check-for-understanding prompts. Both are supported by iterative prompting, in which students request follow-ups to reframe, deepen, simplify, localize, or apply a first-pass reading.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Requires iterative prompting: students must request follow-up questions rather than accept a single generated text, with instructor-controlled constraints through the reading prompt template.
Constraints¶
- The term is a descriptive design label, not a new theory; the study does not test tutoring-level learning gains and includes no comparison condition.
Target Learners¶
- graduate professional students in educational leadership
Learning Goals¶
- coverage of core educational leadership concepts
- calibrating reading depth to professional work context
Claims¶
- Interest Tailoring Structural In Reading Logs [+M]
- Comprehension Prompts Trigger Scaffolding Increase [+M]
