Fidelity of implementation as a latent construct with four components¶

Description¶
The study conceptualizes implementation fidelity as a latent construct underlying four separate components: "dosage, adherence, quality of delivery, and student responsiveness." Fidelity was measured through classroom observations, interviews, and surveys with teachers and other key staff such as curriculum trainers. The framework structures the study's implementation analysis and its moderator analyses, in which class-level fidelity of implementation was examined as a potential moderator of EM's effects on math achievement.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Multiple data sources (classroom observations, interviews, and surveys with teachers and key staff) to capture the four components
Constraints¶
- In this trial, fidelity was low: only 55% of treatment teachers in year one and 44% in year two implemented the unique and essential components
Target Learners¶
- elementary school students in treatment and control classrooms
Learning Goals¶
- faithful delivery of curriculum-unique and essential instructional components in mathematics
