Description

Each of the eight 30-minute sessions was "organized according to four basic sections: introduction of self-monitoring (2-3 minutes), vocabulary instruction (10 minutes), text-based reading (15 minutes), and conclusion of self-monitoring (2-3 minutes)." The vocabulary routine introduced three new words and reviewed two previously taught words daily with simplified definitions, visuals, related words, and word-use discussion. The reading component had students re-read text to answer summarization, literal, and inferential questions, with instructors scaffolding down to paragraph, sentence, or word level.
