Description

The article presents a didactic model that is "a selection of aspects from different methods combined" so that activities reinforce each other, aiming for higher linguistic competence. It consists of four phases adapted from Piaget's learning process and the researcher's own continuation: Reception and Assimilation (comprehension-based exercises), Accommodation (consciousness-raising and translation exercises), Production (reconstructive exercises and free writing), and Self-Assessment (an ongoing journal). The model transforms the grammar lesson into a language lesson integrating all skills.

Design Implications

Context

Target Learners

  • Arabic-speaking freshman university students at low-intermediate English level

Learning Goals

  • English tense and aspect system (temporal system)
  • language awareness
  • reading and writing skills
  • vocabulary building
