Description¶
G-Jump integrates the Triple Jump Exercise with gamification following the Werbach–Hunter framework. Its three jumps are a points-based competitive closed-book case MCQ test, an open-book case analysis scored for response quality and search strategy, and a structured reflective narrative scored by two evaluators (inter-rater reliability ICC = 0.87). Game elements include a "Plague Doctor" narrative, live leaderboards, badges, and real-time feedback. The study evaluated it against TJE and closed-book control in a three-group quasi-experiment.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Students received a detailed guidebook and attended an orientation session to ensure familiarity with the process
- requires an eight-member expert panel spanning medical education, anesthesiology, and instructional design
Constraints¶
- Implementation complexity — including design, training, and evaluation — may challenge large-scale adoption
Target Learners¶
- undergraduate anesthesia students in health profession education
Learning Goals¶
- cognitive mastery of theoretical knowledge
- information search, analysis, and synthesis skills
- reflective self-assessment
Claims¶
- Gjump Higher Post Test Than Control [+M]
- Gjump Tje Follow Up Above Control [+M]
- Gjump High Satisfaction Vidakis [+M]
