Description¶
JW2016 is a standardized, audio-guided breathing-based brief mindfulness meditation training grounded in Anapanasati/Vipassana breath practice. Each session comprises "1 min of guided preparation and 15 min of mindfulness meditation training", in which participants focus on the breath, notice arising thoughts, and return attention to the breath. In this study it was delivered offline in a supervised classroom over 18 consecutive days, with attendance recorded on daily sign-in sheets.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Audio instructions and a facilitated, supervised group setting; attendance recorded via daily sign-in sheets
Constraints¶
- The study did not include fine-grained objective or subjective indices of practice quality, so individual differences in actual attentional engagement during meditation could not be determined
Target Learners¶
- healthy adults with no prior meditation experience
Learning Goals¶
- attentional control
- executive attention
- self-regulation
