Description

The Los Padillas Wildlife Sanctuary is a 5-acre experiential education facility on the school campus that was "in disrepair and out of use" in 2017 and revived at community insistence as an outdoor learning space. Fourth-graders completed a project-based pond-restoration unit, researching at ponds across town and learning from experts; Tribal leaders use the sanctuary's tree-stump seating area for storytelling about Native culture and history. APS helps maintain the grounds and arranges visits for every 3rd-grade class across the city.
