Description

The article develops a methodological system of blended learning in computer science whose components are "the target one, the content-related one, the procedural component and the assessment and performance one". The target component reflects educational demands and state standards; the content-related component develops information-activity skills and ICT modelling; the procedural component includes the schedule and roadmap activity elements and determines check points; the assessment and performance component uses a module and rating system correlating scores to information and communication competency development level. The system is built on six transformed general didactic principles and realised through learning roadmaps in a subject information environment.

Design Implications

Context

Requirements

  • A specially designed subject information environment has to be created to provide the multitude of conditions for drawing up learning roadmaps

Constraints

  • The system was developed and trialled for computer science courses at higher education institutions in Russia and Kazakhstan

Target Learners

  • first-year university students of economics and related directions
  • senior pedagogical-university students of physics and mathematics profile

Learning Goals

  • information and communication competency in computer science
  • self-regulated learning and self-education skills
