Description¶
A Didactic Unit designed by the authors in which each student completes a list of nine activities, one for each Intelligence Style, covering Technology topics such as workshop materials, technical drawing, structures, electricity and internet use. Each activity develops aspects of the technology topic with methods intended to be friendly to each thinking style; for example, musical-prevalent students could find or compose a song about the electromagnetic field. The unit was the experimental intervention compared against traditional magistral expositive lessons.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Identification of each student's prevalent IS beforehand
- Coverage of the same technology topic as the traditional lessons for a fair comparison
Constraints¶
- The article states the traditional method is not outside MIT assumptions, since expository teaching already favours linguistic and logical-mathematical styles
Target Learners¶
- Secondary students aged 12-13 in rural Extremadura, Spain
Learning Goals¶
- Technology content acquisition
- emotional engagement during Technology lessons
