Description¶
The study's learning material is an expository illustrated text on mitosis distributed across 11 pages with an overall length of 1113 words, text on the left and a complementary picture on the right of each page. Part 1 (four pages) covered cell structures, chromosomes and DNA and carried the EMME guidance; Part 2 (seven pages) covered the phases of mitosis and was identical for all conditions, with all posttest items referring only to Part 2. The EMME videos, generated from an instructed model's recorded gaze and visualized with focus maps, had "an overall duration of 382 s and varied between 52 and 115 s per page (M = 95.5 s)" with no verbal instruction.
