Description¶
The article proposes that "MOOC and HFS are not isolated educational tools, but strongly complementary." Theoretically, the integrated model "aligns with flipped classroom and blended learning theories: MOOCs support pre-learning and standardization of theoretical knowledge; HFS supports hands-on practice and clinical reasoning." Practically, MOOCs improve consistency and flexibility of theoretical teaching while HFS provides a low-risk, repeatable environment for skill training, forming a reinforcing closed loop for skills-oriented medical education.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Curriculum design that sequences MOOC pre-learning before simulation-based practice
- Teachers who synthesize knowledge and facilitate high-fidelity procedural practice
Constraints¶
- The framework is presented as the authors' theoretical interpretation, supported by prior literature rather than tested as a mechanism in this trial
Target Learners¶
- Ophthalmology graduate students in optometry rotations
Learning Goals¶
- Standardized theoretical knowledge acquisition
- Hands-on clinical skill training and clinical reasoning
Claims¶
- Mooc Hfs Blended Improves Academic Performance [+M]
- Mooc Hfs Larger Effects Practical Refractive Classroom [+M]
