Description

The MORE intervention organizes content literacy instruction as recurring thematic lesson sequences built on a pyramid structure in which a general schema unifies topics in a domain. Teachers "interleaved practices involving direct teaching of domain-specific academic vocabulary networks, interactive read-alouds to provide recurrent exposures to schema-related vocabulary, and wide reading of thematically related informational texts with autonomy and competence supports." The Grade 2 science unit contained 45 lessons with nine lesson activity types repeated five times across a 10-week unit, ending each sequence with a reflection activity.
