Description

The intervention assigns recent graduates to near-age peer mentors recruited from undergraduates and graduate students at a local tier-one research university. Mentors reached out via text, phone, email, and Facebook, offering "Course Counseling and Advising" about registration, majors, placement exams, and "Financial Aid Assistance" including outstanding obligations, forms, living arrangements, and work-study. All treated students were contacted at least twice by email and phone; interested students took part in follow-up meetings in person or by phone or Skype. Mentors received one hour of training from CAP staff with templates and roadmaps for conversations.
