Description

A repeatable lesson structure in which a prepared play related to the lesson topic is performed at the start of class and the regular course teacher then leads discussion. As the article describes it, "In the first 20-30 minutes of each lesson (time varies by subject and play), the plays were performed by the researcher and her team, and in the remaining time, the questions were answered by the social studies teacher of the class". Plays were distributed across the unit's themes (Karagöz and Hacivat, storytelling, puppetry, village play, theater) with prepared questions given to the teacher as material.

  • Plays had to be performed simultaneously in all schools in the same week to avoid conflicts

Target Learners
