Description¶
Project Cal-Well is a California Department of Education program, initiated in 2014 and funded by a SAMHSA NITT-AWARE grant, that "aims to expand mental health services in schools and communities." In Cohort 2 (2019–24) it supported DNUSD's multi-tiered system of support across three components: universal Tier 1 supports for positive school climate and social–emotional skills, Tier 2 school-based mental health services, and Tier 3 partnerships and cross-system collaborations. The district used the grant as a foundation to leverage additional pandemic-era funding.
