Description¶
The training's pedagogical structure is a five-unit progression: "The training consists of five curriculum units" covering syllable stress awareness, syllable structure, orthographic markers, spelling, and consolidation & automation. Each part starts with easy exercises and difficulty continuously increases and adapts individually across units, chapters, subchapters, and levels, so children first attend to stress patterns, then learn vowel-length marking rules, then consolidate and automate their knowledge.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Difficulty must adapt individually and content must be unlocked progressively to keep children on track
Constraints¶
- The acquisition phase covered the first two-thirds of the 66-level schedule, with the last third devoted to training and automation
Target Learners¶
- German primary school children in grades 2–4 with poor spelling skills
Learning Goals¶
- Orthographic knowledge of vowel length marking combined with syllable stress awareness
