Shared-lecture-plus-adjunct design for comparing modality-specific training components¶

Description¶
The study's design framework holds both modalities constant in everything except the modality-specific component: both groups first receive the same standardized instructor-led lecture, then receive either simulation practice with debriefing or facilitated interactive video, standardized to the same 40-minute modality-specific duration. This lets the trial compare "the added value of post-lecture training formats", though it means the independent effect of each stand-alone modality cannot be isolated.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- An identical standardized lecture delivered by the same instructor team before the modality-specific intervention
- Standardized modality-specific duration across groups
Constraints¶
- A substantial portion of observed knowledge gain is likely attributable to the shared lecture and test–retest exposure
- Better suited to comparing post-lecture formats than isolating stand-alone modality effects
Target Learners¶
- undergraduate medical students
Learning Goals¶
- procedural and knowledge outcomes for resuscitation training
