Social ecological model as a mentoring program design framework

Description

The social ecology model of health holds that "behavior is influenced by the interaction of personal, social, and environmental factors" across intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, community, and public policy levels. The authors note it had been used to explore risky behavior influences but "has not been used as a program design framework for mentoring programs." One Life applied it by targeting two intrapersonal constructs — a myopic view of life and limited value in education — while strategies also touched interpersonal and institutional levels.
