Description

The SSTP was a six-hour program in four sessions of one and a half hours each, built around presenting information, watching 19 previously recorded real-life classroom videos, doing exercises based on real-life examples, and discussion. It taught five techniques (modeling, rehearsing, prompting, giving cues, rewarding) chosen from observation and interview data about what teachers lacked and wanted. The authors state that "programs similar to the SSTP consisting of many exercises, real- life examples, and visual materials with a short implementation time can be a useful tool for training teachers".
