Description

The adapted intervention is a one-year language-arts program in which students were "instructed on how to identify various authentic questions, justify their claims, and collaboratively construct knowledge in discussions through nine mini-lessons". Students read and discussed four award-winning children's books in small groups across 11 literary discussions, kept literacy journals to prepare authentic questions and responses, and followed discussion rules establishing normative expectations for a dialogic culture. Teachers implemented the program with high fidelity, spending 34.07 hours versus a prescribed 32.92 hours.
