Description¶
TDHS gives ninth graders a double dose of reading: students take double periods of Strategic Reading, 90 minutes daily, in the first semester, and then double periods of English 1 in the second semester. This sequencing concentrates intensive reading instruction before the standard English course. The pattern is the structural backbone of the reading component of the whole-school model.
