Description¶
When a stand-alone educational technology course was eliminated, the program replaced it by purposely infusing "technology-integration assignments, objectives, and lessons into methods courses," aligned to the ISTE-T standards. By fall 2015, 16 methods courses across five programs had been infused. The approach places responsibility for teaching technology integration on content-methods instructors rather than educational-technology experts, supported by specialist PD.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Instructor professional development and ongoing specialist support
- Standard syllabi with technology-infused objectives and assignments
Constraints¶
- Instructors hired for content-methods expertise had varying, though generally quite limited, technology capabilities, and some did not implement the agreed-upon technology outcomes as designed
Target Learners¶
- undergraduate teacher candidates in early childhood, elementary, secondary, special, and English language learner education programs
Learning Goals¶
- integrating technology into future classroom instruction
Claims¶
- Tc Rate Tech Integration Preparation Below Efficacy Tap [+M]
- Student Teaching Tech Use Four Categories [+M]
