Description

The experimental group's main materials were "some supplementary video files extracted from TED conferences, to which students were exposed before doing the task". Videos were selected according to students' level and the content or spoken genre of each task, using criteria that they be relevant to students' background knowledge and culture, authentic representations of real-life spoken discourse including fillers, hesitation markers, fixed expressions, ellipsis and vague language, and amenable to analysis for raising awareness of spoken discourse features.
