Transversality: integrating environmental education as a transversal theme across existing disciplines rather than a standalone subject

Description

The study's framework is rooted in the concept of transversality, which "according to Greenblatt (2015), referred to a description of objects intersection" and "is rooted in generic and stable Thom's Transversality Theorem (1954)". The author adapts this to education via UNESCO-UNEP (1978)'s recommendation that environmental education not become "just another discipline added to those already existing but be introduced as a transversal theme in school curricula". This infusion of EE into social studies in the basic computer-mediated classroom, using GIS as the instructional vehicle, was the study's conceptual application of the transversality theorem.
