Description

The UBRIDGE (Universal design, Bloom's taxonomy, Reflection, Integration, Design thinking, Growth mindset, Ethics) Institute was a six-session synchronous Zoom program, two hours weekly, for interdisciplinary faculty across arts, sciences, education and health professions. It aimed to scaffold AI integration through "inclusive pedagogy, ethical reasoning, and course redesign principles". Sessions combined hands-on AI experimentation, design-thinking worksheets, discussion boards, and capstone AI-integration plans.

Design Implications

Context

Requirements

  • Voluntary participation with sustained six-session duration, active learning, coherence with participant needs, and collective participation, following Darling-Hammond et al. as the article cites

Constraints

  • Self-selection bias: participants volunteered and received modest stipends, limiting generalizability to faculty who might resist such opportunities

Target Learners

  • Higher education faculty and staff across disciplines, from novice to experienced AI users

Learning Goals

  • Ethical AI integration in teaching
  • Inclusive course design
  • AI-informed pedagogical content knowledge
