Description

The VIP is a self-instructional, user-friendly, interactive video package developed by the researchers with video production experts using the ADDIE instructional design model. It "lasted for 6 hours for an average student for six weeks" and covered nine lessons from the Nigerian senior secondary geometry curriculum (angle at a point, angles and parallel lines, angle properties of a triangle, congruence and similarity, angles of a polygon, parallelograms, circles, loci, and construction). Four variants were produced: COOVIP, COMVIP, IVIP, and CVIP, deployed on desktop computers or projected via LCD. The test instrument was the 50-item multiple-choice Geometry Achievement Test drawn from past WAEC questions, with reliability 0.87 (KR-20).

Design Implications

Context
