Description¶
The YMHC provides all members with a common support structure: intensive preservice training (which can include Youth Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed care, mandated reporting, cultural competency, motivational interviewing, and suicide risk screening), site-based onboarding, weekly or regular supervision often from licensed professionals, individualized career coaching, and credentialing opportunities such as Community Health Worker or Certified Peer Support Specialist credentials. The report presents this framework as the core preparation enabling members to serve as near-peer navigators.
