Description

A group-administered iPad battery developed by Gallen et al. for measuring executive functions such as sustained attention, working memory, and multitasking in grades 4–8 classrooms.

Components

  • ACE-C: a group-administered digital executive function assessment battery for classrooms: The Adaptive Cognitive Evaluation Classroom (ACE-C) is a digital assessment battery of nine tasks measuring executive functions such as attention, working memory, and multitasking, administered on iPads to groups of students in school settings. Tasks were "developed from cognitive assessments commonly used in lab-based settings and modified to include adaptive algorithms, motivational trial-by-trial and end-of-task feedback, and a user-friendly interface." Psychometric staircase adaptive algorithms let students perform the same tasks across time points without floor or ceiling effects. This study used its continuous performance task (CPT), adapted from the TOVA, to derive a sustained attention component score. (Gallen et al. (2023))
