Description

Early Risers is a multi-year prevention programme for elementary-aged children with early aggressive or disruptive behavior, integrating child-, school-, and family-focused interventions.

Components

  • Four-component intervention model combining child skills, school support, parent skills, and family support: Early Risers organizes its intervention as four coordinated components. The Child Skills component teaches skills that enhance children's emotional and behavioral self-regulation, positive peer relationships, and academic success. The Child School Support component identifies areas of difficulty in the classroom and creates individualized plans addressed during normal school activities. The Parent Skills component is delivered in family night group sessions teaching positive parent-child relations, effective discipline, and school involvement, while the Family Support component uses home visits to identify basic needs and health concerns and implement plans for healthy lifestyles.
