Description¶
Eduq+ is a Movva-run message-based nudge programme that sends structured SMS or audio messages to parents and teachers to support primary students' learning and engagement.
Components¶
- Eduq+ message-based nudge program: Eduq+ is a low-cost message-based nudge intervention implemented by Movva with the Ivorian Ministry of Education, sending "two SMS-messages per week in simpli fied French" to parents and/or teachers of primary students. Each two-week core module follows a behavioral-economics-based sequence: "a motivating fact (message 1), a suggested activity (message 2), an interactive message (message 3), and a growth message (message 4)". Parent messages addressed social-emotional development and educational engagement; teacher messages included pedagogical tips and motivational support. Costs were 796 USD per school or 6.68 USD per student. (Sharon Wolf et al. (2023))
Claims¶

- Parents-only nudges marginally significantly increased child-reported child labor (d = 0.113), contrary to intervention goals [-M]
- Teacher-only and combined parent-teacher nudges showed no impacts on learning, with small negative point estimates [+W]
