Description

A European Commission framework that defines digital competence through five competence areas and progressive proficiency levels for citizens and educational assessment.

Components

  • DigComp five-component framework of digital competence: The European Commission's Digital Competence Framework (DigComp), established to identify and support EU citizens' digital competence, presents five components: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, safety, and problem solving. It was updated into Digcomp 2.1 in 2017 with the same key dimensions, and sub competences can be evaluated across different levels of proficiency. In this review it is the most-used basis for assessment instruments in higher education. (Zhao Yu et al. (2021))
