Description¶
A publicly available dataset created by the University of Oxford and Rising Academies containing oral-reading passages, student audio recordings, and faithful human transcriptions for oral reading fluency research and assessment.
Components¶
- Ghana ORF Dataset: publicly available oral reading fluency recordings from Ghanaian students: The University of Oxford & Rising Academies Ghanaian Student Oral Reading Fluency Dataset contains the results from ORF tasks administered in a Ghanaian school network, including original passages, audio recordings of students reading, and high-quality human transcriptions. The authors state it addresses a gap because "there are no publicly available datasets of children's voices speaking English that (a) focus on students' oral reading rather than speaking and (b) are from countries other than the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom." Passages came from PrePIRLS, designed for LMICs. (Henkel et al. (2025))
