Description¶
A computer-based reading assessment developed to measure struggling students’ word-recognition knowledge and automaticity through tasks such as picture matching, rhyme selection, and auditory–visual verification.
Components¶
- iASK backward-masking experimental tasks (Find the Picture, Find the Rhyme, Verify): The iASK (Iowa Assessment of Skills and Knowledge for reading) development version delivered three computer-based tasks over the Internet: Find the Picture (word-to-picture matching, four options), Find the Rhyme (rhyme selection from eight options), and Verify (auditory-visual match judgment). Each had masked (90 msec, eight hashtags) and unmasked versions. The article reports "experimental tasks showed excellent internal consistency" with Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.90 to 0.98 across versions. Items were monosyllabic, balanced across GPC classes, with counterbalanced masking assignment. (Roembke Tanja C. et al. (2019))
