Description

The KSAVE framework is a 21st-century skills framework produced by the ATC21S project to organize knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and ethics for curriculum and large-scale assessment.

Components

  • KSAVE framework of 21st century skills: The KSAVE framework, produced in Phase 1 of the ATC21S project sponsored by Cisco, Intel, and Microsoft and led by the University of Melbourne, organizes skills for success in the 21st century by knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and ethics. "The KSAVE framework uses 10 skills, grouped into four categories": ways of thinking, ways of working, tools for working, and living in the world. For each skill it provides knowledge requirements, guiding abilities and skills, and related behaviors and aptitudes. (Markle et al. (2013))
  • ATC21S framework distinguishing social and cognitive CPS skills enacted in dyadic computer-based assessment: The study's organizing framework, from the Assessment and Teaching of 21st Century Skills project (Hesse et al., 2015), divides CPS into two intertwined skill dimensions. In this framework, "social skills refer to the 'collaborative' part of CPS that is often enacted through social interactions with the paired partner, including participation, perspective taking, and social regulation. Cognitive skills, on the other hand, refer to the 'problem-solving' part of CPS, such as task regulation and knowledge building." The study operationalizes these as log-file indicators scored via Rasch modeling with WLE scores across four CPS tasks. It differs from the PISA 2015 framework, which does not separate social from cognitive skills in CPS tasks. (Shupin Li · Johanna Pöysä-Tarhonen · Päivi Häkkinen (2022))
