Description¶
This is a lesson-planning framework adapted by WestEd's K–12 Alliance for the Montebello project, modifying the 5E Instructional Model with concept, teacher, and student columns and embedded evaluation.
Components¶
- Modified 5E lesson design planning template with concept, teacher, and student columns and Evaluate embedded in every phase: The Montebello project built on the 5E Instructional Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) and modified its lesson design planning template. WestEd's K–12 Alliance added a "concept" column so teachers kept the lessons' conceptual flow in mind, and teachers included the Evaluate phase in every stage to monitor and assess student understanding. The template organizes planning around "Concept Teacher Student" rows for each E stage, with the Engage row targeting the prior-knowledge concept and the Explore row connecting it to the lesson concept.
