Description¶
A computerized preschool assessment developed for research use to measure cognitive flexibility and related executive-control components through color, shape, and switching conditions.
Components¶
- Shape School task with baseline and switch conditions for measuring flexibility components in preschoolers: The Shape School is a computerized task in which children name cartoon stimuli by color or shape, conveyed through a story about school activities. It includes a color baseline block (12 test trials), a shape baseline block (6 practice and 12 test trials), and a switch condition (6 practice and 15 test trials) where hatted stimuli cue shape naming and hatless stimuli cue color naming, yielding 10 shift and 4 no-shift trials. The article selected it because it "contains both baseline and mixed-task blocks, and has demonstrated psychometric reliability and validity." Accuracy was coded from videorecorded sessions with 93.83% inter-rater agreement. (Chevalier N. et al. (2012))
