Description¶
A researcher-developed multi-item, 5-point Likert self-report assessment by Henk G. Schmidt and colleagues for measuring secondary students’ momentary epistemic curiosity about a specific topic.
Components¶
- State epistemic curiosity measure developed via content analysis of published questionnaires: A newly constructed multi-item state epistemic curiosity scale built from a content analysis of epistemic curiosity questionnaires published between 1975 and 2019. The article states "we decided to create a multi-item 'state'epistemic curiosity measure based on a content analysis of the epistemic curiosity questionnaires published between 1975 and 2019". Items such as "I am really curious to know more about this topic" were scored on a 5-point Likert scale, and the measure showed high construct reliability (H = .92 in Study 1). It was used in both studies to measure momentary curiosity about the physics of heat. (Henk G. Schmidt et al. (2021))
