Description¶
A Benton Foundation and EDC Center for Children and Technology toolkit of instruments that helps teachers assess technology-rich learning activities, student skill development, learning, and media literacy.
Components¶
- Four skill categories for technology use: Digital Skills, Media and Meaning, Point of View, and Audience: The Toolkit organizes the skills students must master with technology into four categories. Digital Skills covers executing the mechanics of technology use; Media and Meaning covers conveying ideas in technology's various forms and choosing the best form for a message; Point of View covers media decisions "directed by the opinions she intends to express in her work"; and Audience covers choosing media that will most effectively convey a message to particular audiences. This taxonomy is the organizing axis of every Toolkit component. (The Evaluation Toolkit: A Work-in-Progress (2002))
