Description¶
A laboratory visual-acuity assessment developed by C. E. Ferree and colleagues to measure the eye's ability to sustain a specified level of clear seeing during prolonged reading under controlled lighting conditions.
Components¶
Claims¶
- Indirect systems and semi-indirect systems with high-density reflectors produced the best results for sustaining clear seeing among the artificial lighting systems tested [+W]
- Across all conditions tested, a lighting condition's tendency to cause loss of visual efficiency correlates closely with its tendency to produce ocular discomfort [+W]
- When light is well distributed and diffuse with no extremes of surface brightness, the eye is practically independent of illumination intensity within ordinary lighting ranges [+W]
