Description¶
The article advances a social-genetic research strategy that estimates total interactions between polygenic indices and environmental levels (schools, neighbourhoods, districts, municipalities) using multilevel random-slope models, "thus remaining agnostic to specific features of environments". Controlling parental EA-PGI exploits random genetic segregation to disentangle within-family genetic effects from environments selected by parents. The authors present it as a framework within which to test the interactive roles of specific school characteristics.
Accounts¶
- Agnostic multilevel gene-environment interaction framework for testing latent environmental moderation: The article advances a social-genetic research strategy that estimates total interactions between polygenic indices and environmental levels (schools, neighbourhoods, districts, municipalities) using multilevel random-slope models, "thus remaining agnostic to specific features of environments". Claims¶
- Students' EA-PGI interacts with schools such that school differences in achievement are wider among students with lower EA-PGI (compensation, not Scarr-Rowe suppression) [+M]
- Five measured school sociodemographic characteristics do not explain the EA-PGI-by-school interaction [+M]
