Description¶
The article operationalizes maintained situational interest not by verbal self-report but behaviorally: participants decided which of six described seminar topics (Experiment 1) or which of six take-home texts (Experiment 2) they wanted to engage with, and the count of yes-responses was the measure. The authors argue this is "not a merely verbal measure" but "a direct measure of whether participants want to engage further with this topic", providing a link to future interest-related behavior. The measure correlated significantly with topic interest and triggered situational interest in both experiments.
