Description

A think-aloud coding scheme for metacognitive SRL activities in lower secondary students, developed from theory and data using Bannert’s (2007) and van der Stel and Veenman’s (2014) schemes as a basis. It distinguishes four main categories — orientation, planning, evaluation, and reflection — with subcategories, and inductively derived sublevel categories separating "domain-general" from "task-specific" activities. Two trained coders independently coded 12% of participants, achieving a substantial interrater reliability (Cohen’s κ = 0.79).
