Description¶
Building on Said (1993), the article defines contrapuntal reading as drawing out "the logics of and resistances to empire and imperialism that are silent or marginally present" in designs and theories. It complements, rather than replaces, contextual and consequential readings by adding a sharpened analysis of imperialism, asking "Who is simultaneously integral and invisiblized through imperialism in our conceptualizations of learning?" The article demonstrates the lens by reading disciplinary authenticity in computing education alongside sociology of immigrant tech workers.
