Description¶
The Executive LLM is a single LLM that generates responses for all AI teammates, has access to the pedagogical rubrics, and is prompted to "create situations that will allow the subject to demonstrate their skill, so that their skill level can be quantitatively inferred". The article frames it as analogous to a computerized adaptive test: whereas traditional CAT varies only item difficulty in a narrow domain, the Executive LLM varies the flow of a group conversation — heightening or softening conflicts, creating project-management needs, or eliciting creative ideas — to maximize information about the test-taker while keeping the interaction naturalistic.
Accounts¶
- The Executive LLM as a computerized adaptive test of complex behaviors: The Executive LLM is a single LLM that generates responses for all AI teammates, has access to the pedagogical rubrics, and is prompted to "create situations that will allow the subject to demonstrate their skill, so that their skill level can be quantitatively inferred". (Globerson et al. (2026))
Claims¶
- An Executive LLM focused on a skill elicits significantly more skill-related evidence than Independent Agents, with a crossover effect between skills [+M]
- In LLM-simulated subjects with known skill levels, the Executive LLM yields better skill-level recovery (lower MAE) than Independent Agents [+W]
- Telling subjects to focus on a skill had no significant effect on conversation informativeness in either protocol [+M]
